Athale has over 15 years coaching and career counselling experience with executives, senior executives and executive teams within global organizations. She specializes in raising productivity within organizations through career alignment with motivational strengths and a focus on effective relationship management as a key leadership and emotional intelligence competency. As a master trainer of a motivational indicator she trains executive coaches and HR professionals within the Asia Pacific region in specialized application of coaching techniques. Athale has extensive international experience being based in Hong Kong for 12 years, prior to returning to Australia in 1995.
As co-founder and Director of Compass Motivational Solutions, Athale has been involved as a coach in many contexts, including leadership development for high potential executives, relationship management between CEO and Board Chairperson, coaching a management strategy partner group following their merger with one of the tier 1 accounting firms, team coaching to increase collaboration between senior managers and partners within the Australian branch of a major global management strategy consulting group, communication effectiveness within a Regional Executive Group of a multinational company.
Athale’s background includes executive development training for a global organization, organizational psychology consulting, Director level career strategy consulting, and practice leader for a global Human Resources Consulting Organization.
Key clients have been from global corporations across a wide range of industries, including Aeronautical and Aviation, Banking, Chemical, Education (Secondary and Tertiary), Executive Recruitment, Fast Moving Consumer Goods, Government, Human Resource Services, Information Technology, Management Strategy Consulting, Mining and Resources and Transport.
Athale holds an Honours Degree in Science and a Doctor of Philosophy, University of Melbourne. She has certified and worked as a leadership development coach with, Personnel Decisions International and The Global Coaching Consortium, and holds a Professional Development Certificate in Executive Coaching from University of Sydney and Level 1, 2 & 3 Coaching Certificate with the Institute of Executive Coaching. She holds an Advanced Certificate in Coach Supervision from the Centre for Supervision (UK) and is a supervisor to executive and leadership development coaches. She is an Associate Member of the University of Sydney Coaching and Mentoring Association and Associate of the Institute of Executive Coaching.
Athale is a Learning Partner with Birkman International and is a Master Trainer for The Birkman Method ®, a motivational indicator and coaching tool of preference for many coach education programs.
Athale believes that the control over achieving one’s full potential and personal fulfilment is in the hands of the individual. Her prime focus is to:
- Assist individuals to tap into their core motivational drivers, defining their sense of purpose and motivational choices and to align these with the needs of their organisation
- Provide information on the individual’s own set of rules or expectations and how these can be managed effectively as motivational strengths and to meet leadership development needs
- Put the control with the individual over working with greater emotional intelligence through understanding and managing their perceptions, expectations and potential reactive behaviour
- Assist individuals and teams to increase collaboration and work with effective and conscious communication in the work environment through understanding their own rules and working effectively with the different rules or expectations of others
